Deputy Finance Officer
The Piedmont Triad Regional Water Authority is accepting applications for a Deputy Finance Officer. An employee in this position must be detail oriented and self-motivated, and able to exercise independent judgment and considerable knowledge to apply generally accepted accounting principles and PTRWA policy in daily operations.
Under the administrative direction of the Finance Officer, this person will assist the Finance Officer with the planning, organization and direction of the fiscal activities of the Authority for the receiving, disbursing, and accounting of revenue and expenditures for the PTRWA. This person will perform a range of accounting and customer service functions and may act in the absence of the Finance Officer.
An employee in this class performs a variety of specialized accounting and data processing tasks including, but not limited to, journal entries, budgetary accounting, reconciling bank statements, assisting with year-end audit, generating financial reports, capital assets, capital expansion budget projects, grant management, payroll, human resources, and performing related fiscal duties. Employee in this position will ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations and ordinances and North Carolina General Statutes governing the responsibilities of local government fiscal operations. In addition, the employee will act as a resource for other Authority employees, the Executive Director and the Board of Directors in the appropriate implementation and maintenance of fiscal and budgetary matters. Employee has a variety of public contact with elected officials, external examiners and auditors, and the general public.
Desirable Education/Experience includes graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field plus experience in accounting, preferably in the public sector; or an equivalent combination of education or experience.Preferred qualifications include extensive experience in NC Local Government Finance and certification as a CPA or NCGFOA Certified Local Government Finance Officer. Selected finalist will be subject to substance background check, credit check, and reference check. Valid NC driver license required.
